I heard this nursery rhyme many times as a kid. I’m not sure if the point was “What the heck is a tuffet?” or “What is she eating?” I definitely got the “Kids, run away from spiders.” part, we all understood that.
Little Miss Muffet sat on a Tuffet, eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider, and sat down beside her,
And she ate him, too.
Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider who sat down beside her and said: “Curds is fattening, whey has cholesterol, and that tuffet will give you back trouble before you’re fourty.”
Little Miss Muffett sat on a tuffet,
Eating her cottage cheese.
Along came a spider,
And sat down beside her.
And said, “I’ll stick with bugs, if you please.”
Curds and whey is literally just cottage cheese, I don’t know what a tuffet is though.
