Usually when the baby smiles I will automatically smile back. That causes me to open my mouth slightly. This is not a good time to have your mouth open. Not at all.
I like that you covered both the Puke AND the Vomit tags. Good idea not to pander to the “vomit” crowd and alienate the “puke” crowd.
The smile itself has lots of survival value, considering the other events that usually accompany it (grunts and full diapers come to mind). If you’re willing to return the smile, it means you might be willing to take care of the um, consequences.
That’s why you treat other people’s babies like a bottle of warm soda. You never know when the carbonation will reach critical.
