      You can look at what other sites you have already open in other tabs. Though, If you’ve just fired up the browser and it’s the first tab …

    The effect works even after a prolonged search, once you are sidetracked by some other fascinating link; the whole Internet is about links, after all.

    It’s been experimentally shown that walking through a doorway does make it more difficult to keep track of what you were just thinking. Perhaps new tabs have the same effect.
