#122 – Yellow

I hear a lot of people around my age that have children talk about how when they were kids they were allowed to roam the streets with no adults accompanying them. Now they never let their kids out of their sight. I was recently thinking about when I was a kid and had a lemonade stand in my front yard. I look back on it and think “What? My mom left me alone in the front yard?! With a box of money?!”

I was a very small child in a small town in Maine. I used to roam the woods alone before I was six yeas old.
Now that I am older, and all the canyons and parks and things have been developed over, there are way fewer places I would let my potential children roam like that.
It makes me kind of sad to think about it.

Well, yeah but TVs were crap and I did not have an XBOX live back then…

No. Nowadays a neighbor would complain and the police would come and tell the kids to shut down because they don’t have a vending license.

I’m gonna have to call positional failure on that one. Next time, place it right in front of the cookie store.

Good thing they weren’t selling brownies.

makes me happy to live on 230 acres of conservation land – and sad that it’s a dead-end road with no traffic so no potential lemonade customers…
