#129 – Leap

My dog is pretty single minded when she is chasing a toy I just threw. That’s why if we play in the front yard she gets put on a super long leash. The yard is pretty small and if a ball took a weird hop into the street she wouldn’t hesitate in chasing right after it.

Also, the Pens and Pencils mug is real and in the store!

yikes, ravines like that have always unnerved me. Used to have one like that near my old house. At the bottom was the ocean, it was about 4 feet wide at the top, 1-2 feet wide in the middle, and widening out again at the bottom. of course, the narrow part was just within the barnacle line, so it was covered with sharp barnacles. Essentially, falling into that ravine would have been akin to sliding down a 40 foot high cheese grater, before beeing drowned in a rather vicious undertow at the bottom.

We used to live in Oakland, California back in the day, and beaches were our second playground. I have enough experences with barnicles than I care to count. ow ow ow ow!

oh man pyro – where on earth did you live?!? i’m thankful that the ocean i grew up near had no such death traps; i’m sure i would have been drunkenly conjoled into sliding down to my painful end before i ever learned enough physics to know better…

Friend here had just that experience with his Border Collie Casey; he threw the ball, it bounced off the bridge into the canyon, enthusiastic young dog went for it. Vet couldn’t help, and Casey must’ve had that betrayed look in her eyes as she was put to sleep. New dog is getting more cautious training and playtime.
