#148 – Stretch

Chapter: Comic
I remember really liking brand new Silly Putty. I loved stretching out newspaper comics, bouncing it as a ball and wrapping it around my hand. It was even cool to put it on something like the top of a bottle and come back in an hour and see how it had slowly oozed down the sides. Then the next day I would crack open the egg to play with it again and find a horrible grey blob filled with dirt, fuzz and dog hair. No thanks.

My favourite thing to do with putty was to flatten it out, blow it into a ball and then pop it. It made a really satisfying sound.
I liked to stretch it out, then fold it over double, then double the other way a few times, loosely. Then I’d seal the edges and I could squeeze it and llisten to all the little pops! My own personal bubble wrap.
There’s so many digital/online versions of simple fun things, bubble wrap, Etch-a-sketch, Wooly Willy, coloring books, that it’s surprising there isn’t a Silly Putty app out there.
Silly putty got banned from my house very quickly when I managed to get it on pretty much everything in the span of an afternoon.
Don’t EVER have silly putty in the same room as a hot shower…. Don’t ask you don’t want know
