#166 – Avoidance

I follow a lot of artists on twitter and some of the best posts are “I’m supposed to be working but instead I did this…” Now that I think about it Minimumble is an example of that. It started out as something for me to do instead of drawing my “real” comics. This is exactly the kind of realizations I need to stay away from.

I seem to have an “inner” brain, and an “outer” brain. If I occupy the outer brain with certain mundane tasks or errands, the inner one suddenly starts to crank out all sorts of ideas and complex thoughts. Most of my teachers called it daydreaming, but I never really stopped doing it.
