#19 – Buzz

I started out with board games like Sorry! and Candy Land. They were mainly up to chance. Luck of the draw or roll of the dice. Then suddenly a game that not only required skill but a game that my older brother convinced me delivered actual painful electric shocks. I eventually learned the truth but the anticipation of that buzzer still made Operation my least favorite game at the time.

Oh god. Operation scarred me for life. Turned out I had an anxiety disorder keyed in to high-pitched and loud noises. You know—smoke alarms, screaming babies… and Operation.

There’s a game where 2 to 4 players hold a controller and wait for a light to flash. The first person to click the button on their controller after the light flashes shocks all the other players’ hands. If you click before the light flashes, you get shocked.

Or you can hold all four controllers in one hand and intentionally shock yourself.
