Chapter: Comic
It’s funny how many people can see me with glasses everyday for a few years and then when I take them off they don’t immediately know what changed. It really freaks them out. “What happened to your face?!”

I wore a full beard for 25 years. Finally I shaved it off. My wife did not notice.
That is still a better reaction than having the cops called on you by your daughter who thinks you are a house intruder 🙂
I shaved off my goatee and my wife said I looked like a serial killer. Also, I’ve always worn a black cowboy hat for years. One day, I forgot to put it on before going to work. The whole day, people that I said hello to every day were asking me if I was new and needed help finding something or someone in the building.
I’ve since stopped wearing the hat, but I had to re-grow the goatee. I don’t want to look anything like I did in those survaliance tapes.
I started wearing a ball cap on travel, driving rental cars, often into the sun. I got an ‘engineer’ cap, starched it up on my old cover block, and added a chevron. It became a trademark. I’d go around the SAF building to the break room for coffee, and people would do a double-take without the hat. Maybe I need to switch it up, with a Stetson, a fedora, a beret, a Tyrolean, a week at a time.
I get the usual “You look god without your glasses!” I follow the comedian’s lead, and say, “You look good without my glasses, too!”
That image up there is monumentally unsettling and I don’t know why.
