ranks right up there with trying to figure out how bad it’s going to be by the look of intense concentration on the little poop factory’s face.
The longer you wait to deal with the problem, the more pungent, sticky, and smooshed-about it will be.
Convincing the wife to clean it up may seem like the logical choice, but then you owe her. What if next time it is worse?
We’re a fan of yelling out “surprise poopie!!” when we’re getting the baby ready for a bath, remove the diaper and have the great fortune of finding one that has bypassed the smell radar. The yelling is usually required b/c the wipes aren’t within arms reach.
Try not to be an Aunt or Uncle, they always try to foist the chore on a third. Grandmas are always a safe bet.
My son does a lot of sneakers…no smell while contained in the diaper, so when you actually notice it, it is now caked on and causing diaper rash. Thankfully, potty training is coming soon for him.
Aren’t there diapers out there that have, I dunno, color-coding to suggest “full diaper”? I think it was only dry and wet color changes though….*can’t remember*
I think those are pull-ups. The idea is that if the child wets him or herself, the design on the pull-up goes away. If the child uses the toilet, he or she is rewarded by keeping the design. I’m not sure if it’s also used for normal diapers as an indicator. I think pull-ups are thinner than diapers, which might make it work better.
My sister and I played this game today with her baby. Only there wasn’t much guessing involved: one minute playing with baby, next minute ‘squelch’ and baby needs a new outfit. :-/
