My son has never been bad for this – he is almost 15 months old, and I can count on one hand how many times he’s peed out of a diaper. My daughter, on the other hand, was known to go through 4-5 diapers in one changing. And it usually wasn’t pee. We went through about 80 diapers with her in the first two days home from the hospital.
My mom taught me that you always lay the new diaper gently OVER the old one, then pull the old one off underneath. She said if they go backwards and down, you can clean it up with no harm done.
If you don’t, though, you risk a shot in the eye. Or – worse, she said – baby boys shooting themselves in the eye.
You need to buy a pee cup!
this is incredibly relevant to my life right now, also projectile poop.
Same here. 🙂

I regret eating breakfast while approving comments this morning. 🙂

My brother was shot in the eye by his daughter. Ma said that it’s rare, but will happen once in a while.
I always threw a cloth down to cover the necessary bits until I was really ready to go, cutting down the risky window to just 5 seconds or so.
Yup, learned that one real quick, put a cloth or towel down right away. I always assumed the cold air when the diaper was opened was the trigger.
