Especially when it’s a few rooms away. An adorable cartoon character voice suddenly becomes a burglar talking to his buddy. The race car with the built-in crash sound becomes your door being pried open.

Happens all the time. Particularly with the dancing bear tower. It will lay silent for weeks at a time, then suddenly turn on when everyone but me is in bed.

The little giggling stuffed animal becomes a unavenged spirit come to chew your toes.

When I’m home alone I usually don’t hear the toys over my music blasting out whatever’s left of my hearing.

However I do know the pain of the motion-activated toys going off right as I’m putting the baby down for a nap or bedtime.

Manufacture of noise-making children’s toys with no off-switch should be considered a crime against humanity. ESPECIALLY the motion triggered ones. >.>

ack! my mother in law bought a doll for my daughter that moves AND cries at random if left on. freaks me out!

  7. fly says:

So what is causing it to go off? Bugs crawling across the floor? Is that better? Bugs everywhere!

a motion sensing toy going off when nothing’s there ( and i’m far away from it)….there’s only explanation…ALIENS!

    …[insert Discovery channel conspiracy here]

  9. Motion activated toys? No. Loud-as-heck motion activated snow man decoration that greets you when you enter the house? Hey, heart, do you think you could start up again?

My friend’s Kinect does this all the time. She swears it’s haunted. It probably is.

It also really likes to track her foot as a hand.
