#343 – Boring

Chapter: Comic
I learned to play all of those early board games from the older brothers and sisters that were around. We rarely even finished one of them all the way through before giving up and starting a different one. As an adult I’ve gone back and read the actual instructions to games like Monopoly and cracked up at how different the real rules are.

Actual rules or House rules, I rarely ever play Monopoly. It’s a dangerous artifact in my family. It gets taken way too seriously, and bad losers do not mix with poor winners. The closest thing I have in my house is the “MAD Magazine” board game. The goal is to lose all your money, certain rules have to be decided by majority vote, there are spaces on the board that change the gameplay to the benefit of no one, and one card tells you to jump in the air and try to stay airborne for ten seconds. Then, it gets silly.
Thanks for reminding me what some of the nonsense was in the MAD Magazine Board Game were. Now to go back to that store near my home that actually had one. I really need this game again.
On that subject, did anyone ever actually play the game that came with Mouse Trap?
Yes, but the contraption never worked.
I don’t think I ever actually played the game, but I did get the Contraption to work. That seemed a lot more interesting, anyway.
