#66 – Leashed

When I was a kid I would pretend my bicycle was a speeder bike. I would zoom down the bike path as fast as I could. Watching the trees turn into a green blur. Over hills, around bends, until I hit that guy coming the other direction.

When I was little I’d go in-line skating with two dogs: my hound and my neighbor’s tireless Jack Russel terrier. That little dog was like the Energizer bunny. They would pull me for a MILE. Now THAT was pod-racing.

On the third mile, though, I’d be pulling them. The first time I took them out, the terrier’s owners came home, found him asleep on the couch, and wondered what on Earth I could have done to knock out their bundle of trouble. Good times.

I still do this whenever I go for a walk, I stand at the end of the block and imagine that was only a second ago that I was at the beginning of the block, as if I had pulled myself through space and time with my own will-power… complete with blurry trees AND woosh sound effects

I looked at the picture quickly, then glanced down to see the text.
When I read Pod Racer *BAM* the transparent lines popped up. Either that was amazing timing or I’m crazy.

      As intended. 🙂

my golden retriever used to be able to pull me on my skateboard all the way around my neighborhood. But that was years ago, now she’s old and has arthritis and just barks at squirrels all day.
