There’s a weird mix of emotions when something funny or cute that makes you smile immediately turns into pain.
I liked finding shapes in the clouds when I was a kid. I tended to find soft rounded things like animals. The problem was that if you waited long enough you got to see all the things ripped apart as the clouds continued to change shape.
I wonder how long it takes to adjust to driving on the opposite side. I sometimes look at the roads ahead of me when I’m at a stoplight and imagine everyone driving on the other side. It gives me butterflies in my stomach.
I remember making macaroni & cheese for the first time. I got to the “bring water to a boil” step and was stumped. I asked my mom how to tell when it was boiling. “You’ll see lots of tiny bubbles rising to the top.” I spent the next 5 minutes running back and forth telling her what was happening and asking if that meant it was boiling. When it finally happened I said “Oh! It’s so obvious, I get it now!”
