#282 – Honk

When I was a kid car alarms actually drew attention to themselves. Now people walk right past a screaming car without even turning their head. I think some people sleep inside them as the alarm is blaring away.

Yeah, but to be fair, that time only existed in this world for about a month and a half. False alarms got real old, real quick!

Not where I live; car alarms are an annoyance here. Mostly because it’s always the same car.

“What? That idiot’s car is going off again?”

I recall a game some of the guys in my school used to play late at night… it was called Car-Alarm / No Car-Alarm. They normally played it after a few bers, then went down the street shaking cars until the alarm went off.

It was often fun to go through the parking garage at the Glendale Galleria and transmit about 5 Watts on 2meters, just to see who we could set off.

In my quiet (very mixed) neighborhood, the occasional car alarm is met with a visit from the neighbors. Better to have a Neighborhood Watch, keeping an eye out for each other.

But then again, there weren’t those smarty-pants who would use a car alarm sound as a ring tone, either.

  6. My stepdad’s car alarm went off. He didn’t hear it, but the neighbor did and pulled a shotgun out on the punk kids trying to break into the car.

      Maaaaannn, that’s one heck of a neighbor…

From the picture and sound effects, I thought the child was sleeping through a Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner cartoon.
