#51 – Gulped

My first car was 11 years old when I bought it. But it still had a few years left of cup holding. Then one day I got lunch at McDonalds and the cup no longer fit. It was a relief when I got a newer car and I once again had somewhere to put my enormo-drink. Then on a trip to Taco Bell it happened again! My car had no built in device to hold such a thing. I had to resort to holding the drinks in between my legs. Warming up the drink and cooling down my… legs.

My car I inherited from my Ma, doesn’t have cup holders, but the people who owned it before had somebody build a center console tray from wood, and it has cup holders. So, if cup sizes go up, I can just take a saw or sharp knife and customize.

Sounds like what I did to my car, then I sold it.

I have been using cheap plastic holders that have an arm that wedges between the side window and the inside of the door. They work for any/all of the seats with a window regardless of how old or new the car is. They are also generally cheap enough to replace with the next model (or same model if they break, they are cheap for a reason) without breaking the bank. The only problem is finding which superstore, discount store, or dollar store is currently stocking them (note that they are rarely if ever found in automotive stores).

Also, remember to remove them temporarily if you are going to roll up/down the window.

They still make those? Wow, I remember using those back when I was a kid before cupholders were common in the back of cars.
